Creating reliable QR codes
Choosing safe settings
A QR code stores a web address, contact detail or short message. Keep the value concise, include HTTPS for web addresses, and test the result with more than one camera before publishing.
Dark modules on a light background and a clear empty margin provide reliable scanning. A longer value creates a denser code and requires more detail.
Quality checklist
Verify the destination before export because a fixed code cannot be changed later. Never embed passwords or private personal data that should not be readable by every scanner.
Camera access is requested only when you choose document scanning or a camera-based QR or barcode scanning feature. Camera frames are processed for the requested feature and are not sent to a StoryDrop server.
Privacy and safe handling
Share only the fields needed. Never include passwords, private messages, precise location or unrelated personal files. Exact reproduction steps are often more useful than excessive telemetry.
A practical selection checklist
Use descriptive names that identify purpose or revision. Avoid overwriting the source until the new file has been checked on the device or application where it will actually be used.
Keep an original copy. Repeatedly opening and exporting a lossy file can introduce blur, ringing or block artifacts. Create new derivatives from the best available source instead of converting an already compressed copy again.
