Story Drop File Tools Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 4, 2026
Overview
Story Drop File Tools is a file reader and local file-processing application. It does not require an account or sign-in.
Files and document content
You can choose files through Android system pickers, Open with, or Share. Because file management is a core purpose of the app, you may also optionally grant Android's All files access. When granted, this lets you browse and manage shared-storage files across folders, search files, copy, move, rename and delete selected items, review duplicates, and analyze storage. The app does not scan storage in the background or upload file contents to a StoryDrop server.
The app may retain Android URI access when you explicitly allow it so that recent files, favorites, and reading progress can work. Operation history, favorites, reading progress, drafts, and settings are stored locally on your device. You can clear applicable history and cache from Settings or remove the app to erase its local data.
Camera
Camera access is requested only when you choose document scanning or a camera-based QR or barcode scanning feature. Camera frames are processed for the requested feature and are not sent to a StoryDrop server.
Advertising and consent
The app uses Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform. Subject to your region, consent choices, device settings, and Google's policies, Google may process advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, device information, diagnostics, and ad interaction data to provide, measure, and protect advertising. StoryDrop does not receive your payment-card number or the contents of files you select through these advertising services.
If you purchase Story Drop File Tools Pro, Google Play Billing processes the purchase, subscription status, and related transaction information. StoryDrop does not receive your payment-card number. The app checks your current Google Play entitlement to provide the ad-free benefit and lets you restore or manage the subscription.
You can review available privacy choices from the app's Settings screen when Google makes that option available. Learn more in the Google Privacy Policy.
Permissions
The app supports scoped Android pickers and content URIs. It also requests optional All files access for its core file-manager functionality. Android displays a dedicated special-access screen, and you can deny or revoke access at any time; scoped pickers remain available. The app does not request location, contacts, SMS, call logs, accessibility service, or VPN access.
Security and active content
The app does not execute Office macros, scripts from HTML files, or other embedded active document content. Passwords supplied to open or protect a document are used for that operation and are not saved by default. The app creates a new output file by default instead of silently replacing the original.
Children
The app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. Advertising configuration and the Google Play target-audience declaration must match the audience selected for the published app.
Changes
This policy may be updated when app capabilities or legal requirements change. The latest version will show its effective date.
